Energy Drinks Should have Warnings
14/02/09
Doctors in the US and UK have stated that energy drinks should come with warnings. Energy drinks are becoming increasingly popular especially with young teens and students and can contain as much as14 times the amount of caffeine as a can of cola (that’s the equivalent of 7 cups of strong coffee). The lack of regulations mean that while some drinks in the UK that contain more than 150mg of caffeine come with a label “high caffeine content” they do nothing in the US or UK to advise on the health dangers of a caffeine overdose or regular caffeine abuse.

I so strongly agree. It’s not the adults I’m worried about. We’re all responsible for our own bodies and what we put into them. But the young people most of these countries market themselves towards are so vulnerable to the hype and the “coolness” factor and I worry about how the insane levels of caffeine, sugar and artificial chemicals in these energy drinks will affect their bodies after all the dust has settled…
